No time to argue! Throw me idol, I'll throw you the whip. Welcome to another adventurous edition of Khannections. Yes, the excitement and fun of KublaCon is just brimming to overflowing and is just around the corner! We have lots of good news to fill you in on, so let’s crack the whip and get right to it because KublaCon 2008 is only one week away! Well, Jones, at least you haven't forgotten how to show a lady a good time.
Hotel Reservations Alert!!! Yes, a good time will be had by all, but we do have some bad news. The Hyatt hotel is NEARLY SOLD OUT and is ‘very’ full... And you may find that you can’t get a room at all for one or more nights. Not only this, the KublaCon rate IS sold out! But fear not treasure seekers, we have made arrangements with another local hotel to handle some of our overflow. The Bay Landing Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Hyatt and you can call them at 650-259-9000. Be sure to ask for the KublaCon rate (which is $109). If you still wish to stay at the Burlingame Hyatt you can contact them at 1-800-233-1234. Just remember, the KublaCon rate is sold out! Please Carpool!!! Not only is gas at 4 bucks a gallon, but it is the green thing to do. So make Indy proud and carpool to the show this year. Please note you can also take BART to the SF Airport and then take a shuttle to the Hyatt. Parking Alert!!! Not only will carpooling (or by using public transportation) help you and us, but it will also help the parking situation. Last year, many people were tempted to park across the street and we need to warn you that the police did ticket (and supposedly towed in some cases) vehicles there last year.
Where shall I find a new adversary so close to my own level? You won’t have a hard time with all the events at the show this year! Here is a breakdown of the almost 700 official gaming events to be found at this years show:
So if there is a game you want to play (regardless of what type of game it is) you will find it at KublaCon somewhere this year. Take this... Wave it at anything that slithers. Do you have all your adventuring gear all packed and ready to go? Now that KublaCon is next week, have you made your plans to attend? If not, you better take a look at our “survival guide” on our Getting ready for KublaCon page where you can find good tidbits of info to help you along.
Asps... very dangerous. You go first. And sure, don’t you want first crack to get your name registered in our RPG Shuffler? Once again you will have the ability to sign up for our RPG events (and a few select other games) before KublaCon starts. Doing it now instead of on site will mean you will have more time to play games at the Con as you don’t have to wait in line to select your choices at the Kiosks. You will have to create a KublaCon.com account (if you don’t have one) to access the shuffler system. The deadline for selecting your choices will be Midnight on May the 20th. Who knows? In a thousand years, even you may be worth something. OK, we won’t quite make you work a thousand years, But eight hours is good enough! It does take a very large amount of time and work to put together our convention so we are still looking for some rugged and ready volunteers to help out this year. Put in your 8 hours and not only will you get free admission to the show, you’ll also get a spiffy green 2008 KublaCon pin. Or, just give us a minimum of 2 hours and earn a rare gem of a treasure... a GREEN KublaCon Pin!
You Americans, you're all the same. But you will NEVER be blamed of overdressing with this year’s batch of far out and “Spacey” KublaCon Pins so you have to have this years to add to your collection! We are now in our eighth year in the tradition of annual KublaCon pins. Tim Heuskin has created makes his debut pin design to match the style of his whimsical cover art. Kubla in outer space with his rocket pack and laser gun! You can check out this year’s collectible pin set here! We also have the return of official KublaCon tote bags and badge holders. You can snag yours at the Registration booth for $5 and $8 respectively. KublaCon T-shirts will be available again this year as well.
Dr. Jones. Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away. And take away a whole Ark full of prizes from our Prize Vault! For many of the official game events at KublaCon, if you win that event, not only will you be given one of our yellow Prize Pins, but you could also win a stash of KublaBucks. You can then bring your KublaBucks to Kubla's Vault to claim your reward. Of course some prizes will be worth more then others so with this system you can preview the prizes, decide which one you want, and keep collecting KublaBucks until you get it. Be sure to check it out when you get there!

Rare and valuable items of interest can be found in our giant Dealers Room. Once again we have a Dealers Room with more Vendors then you can crack a whip at. Asmodee Editions, Fantasy Flight Games and Hero Games are just a few of the great Dealers you will find at the show. You can check them all of them out here.
Doctor Jones, we've heard a lot about you. But we haven’t heard a whole lot about one of our newest staff members. She has the hard job of being Japji’s assistant at the show (and we feel sorry for her already!). So with no further adieu, we shall introduce to you Lydia Stacey!
Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes? Hey, don’t worry, these guys won’t squeeze every drop of blood out of you. Rather they only want some of it! KublaCon is once again sponsoring a blood drive by Stanford Blood Center. Please help us help others and participate. Each donor will receive a cloisonné pin designed by Robert Heinlein for the first Science Fiction blood drive 30 years ago and some KublaBucks to use in our Prize Vault! The blood drive is Sunday... so check it out. So once again, Jones, what was briefly yours is now mine.
And you can make that valuable artifact yours at The KublaCon Flea Market! Once again we will run our Flea Market on Friday night and Monday morning. Last year's amazing turn out both with sellers and with buyers created a great event! The flea market takes place in the Grand Ballroom... right near the dealer's room. These spacious digs will ensure plenty of buyers, many sellers, and tons of games to choose from!
